I had the pleasure of being a Confederate cannonier at Ft. Tejon, California a few times in the mid and late 1990s. I loved the old cannons, nearly as much as I loved the M198 and later the M109A6 Paladin I worked with in the Army.

    2. Goku 4

Mostly, I was thinking if LASER bends in shockwave , light bends , so what happens to laser?

    3. TJ Rooger

Reminds me of Pickett's charge. Gives a whole new meaning to "bravery". I've been in Afghanistan with and experienced a lot of random unpredictable explosions . Nothing like that though. To know what you're getting into and march/ charge into the teeth of it...

    4. Tony Jackson

It's interesting that the newest U.S. Howitzers today are still triggered by pulling a string!

    5. woodstoney

"We are cooking more and we love it...", as Destin gets laser glares from his better half!! Where you sleeping tonight? ;) Nice you had a blast!

    6. Sir Wesley

~4:45 looks almost fake. The speed difference is insane it looks like a CG shot.

    7. my boy

      Loved watching them shoot!

    8. Daniel Brazell

I stabbed myself in the thumb with an exacto knife at exactly the same time the first cannon went off. Ouch.

    9. Avoidance Technologies

"If you or one respect that gun (cannon) enough [like one should] there would be less need of and for a one hand gun".

    10. Avoidance Technologies

"That ole' rusty ball and looked like torpedo".

    11. Stanwood Dave

So, back in the day, say circa 1812, the MOST POWERFUL WEAPON on the face of planet Earth, was the cannon. Well, just how many weapons of mass destruction, could a individual own? Well I'll be, via: Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution states that "Congress shall have the Power To . . . grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water." Well that's nice, but just how many could you own? American Letter of Marque, 1812, Letter of Marque carried by Captain Millin of the American privateer Prince of Neufchatel during the War of 1812. Mounting eighteen carriage guns, and navigated by one hundred & twenty nine men, hereby authorizing Nicholas Millin captain, and William Stetson lieutenant of the said Brig and the other officers and crew thereof, to subdue, seize, and take any armed or unarmed British vessel, public or private, which shall be found within the jurisdictional limits of the United States, or elsewhere on the high seas, or within the waters of the British dominions, and such captured vessel, with her apparel, guns, and appertenances, and the goods or effects which shall be found on board the same, ...

      loved every shot of it

    13. unfa

Is the ball projectile actually coming out red-hot?

    14. hulk7272

      Great video! That's excellent quality!!!

    15. Néos Kaísaras

      boom at 2:32

    16. Jebster

I spent 22 years in the US Army, Field Artillery, and I always love seeing the modern cannons fire, but I do so enjoy watching these period pieces too.

    17. Justin Sorensen

I'm surprised at how much powder doesn't burn and is just sprayed out

    18. Blain Clatworthy

Chemists are normally good cooks because following an analytical procedure is basically following a recipe.

    19. Quest4Adventure

Love this. Good old fashioned American neighborhood fun.

    20. Phil Swift

I've got a ww1 German artillery piece, wounder if they would let me come down and play with them

    21. Chris Tashik

I like when you shot the cannon and in real time you turned your face away from the blast but in slow motion your head didn’t even begin to move during the blast. ***i’d love to see a reaction video of someone’s “blink” reaction to an unexpected loud noise.***

    22. niraj panakhaniya

      3:27 Sorry but I can't stop laughing...

    23. james cortejo

This video smells like whiskey and gunpowder.

    24. Skuzzy

the old man at the end made me laugh really hard 13:17

    25. Mike Brown

His beard is dangerously close to a very famous one xD

    26. okhomestead

How do I give two thumbs up?!

    27. Crosshairs19

      This video screams America

    28. Clutch

"These are reproductions made by the Amish" Hol' up

    29. Todd Poston

Awesome video! But did I miss the part where you discussed the .45 Whitworth?

    30. donald parker

These cannons are a symbol of our colonialist invading past linked to brutal racism.

      1. Pharrzide 77

    31. Peter Querciagrossa

I wonder if there is a better way to maximize the powder burn. You can see all that unburned powder. Is all that potential power going to waste?

    32. tacfoley

Amazing to see the fuze climbing vertically out of the vent at 6:55!!

    33. Mohammad Faisal

i love u dude!! Came back to resee this after quite some time...

    34. Natan Getschel

i'm disappointed that you couldn't shoot these cannons with a Canon camera

    35. J-Audio DCP_Nation

I use to buld these from scap. From making the molds to buffing it to look nice and shiny and shot everyone we made best time in my life.

    36. shannon dove

Low explosives are nice, but watching them makes me appreciate the awesome power of high explosives. I like to see 50% of the nitrate replaced with chlorate, and see the difference. Or perchlorate for safety reasons

    37. carl gangl

Not racist confederates just playing with there toys.

      1. Pharrzide 77

    38. Ray Miles

Me & my business partner were told the two of us had an opportunity to be accepted for a very serious national traveling reanactment...only the two of us & I couldn't talk him into it 😲! ! ?

    39. Del Scoville

When I was operating a heavy camera for the news, way back when I was a teen, I was filming a canon at a celebration of a popular TV cruise ship being moved to a new port. I was carefully balanced with a heavy camera on my shoulder and the shockwave knocked me over. The shot wouldn't have been much good anyway, as I jumped with the noise too. lol First canon I ever witnessed being fired.

    40. Duncan

...15 angles later.... how many high speed cameras does this man have?!

    41. Inservio

I wonder how much further the round would travel if you could redirect the recoil's energy back into the combustion.

    42. Ferrariman601

That’s it - we need cannon firing in Schlieren.

    43. Athul Krishna

3:27 it was like in a movie

    44. B1ind B1ake

Those things y'all call "cannonballs" aren't real. It's physically impossible for something that big and heavy to be fired. Do the math. Y'all are idiots... 😒

      1. Pharrzide 77

    45. Dale olson

If you shoot a chicken out of the cannon would they loose all their feathers?and would they still taste like chicken fast food?is that how they make chicken nuggets?

    46. Harsh Tripathi

These look like the people who would oppose civil rights

      1. Pharrzide 77

and you look like an idiot

    47. Newt

Wow the V2640 is amazing! If only it didn't cost as much as a house I'd save up for it.

    48. Steve Driscoll

Did they ever try to reduce the powder and gasses that blow past the cannon ball and reduces the velocity of the ball?

    49. Capttainn

The assisted living bus dropped us off and didn't tell us what to do! Hilarious

    50. iNero9900K TM

      America in a nutshell

    51. Calvin Du

try talk about gun control with those cannon owners, ridiculous Democrats.

    52. will arthur

Imagine getting smacked by one of these back in the day

    53. Squirtin Redbird

The assisted living bus dropped us off

    54. Ominous Penguin

10:48 - It looks like there's some significant Magnus effect on those spinning balls.

    55. Abraham Weiss

Do you need a destructive wepons permit for those?

    56. Alton Rowell

If u think about it, it hasn't been that long ago that people were killing each other with cannons. If the democrats keep acting ignorant and stupid we may have to go back to useing cannons again.

    57. Merek Borrelli

at 7:06 you can see the shock wave

    58. Sleek Cat

Great video, Justin! Looks like the guys have some awesome toys. I'll bet they ain't cheap, either.

    59. Mary Lagua

      Your canon looks newer.

    60. Mr. Viper

1:14 I can’t be the only one who saw a white corvette, right?

    61. VirtualGobllim47

Those very nice, "non-racist" people wearing Confederate uniforms, lovely

    62. William Nyberg

A roofer who has a cannon.. sounds like he might have a bit of a hustle going on..

    63. Cole Miller

Only in Alabama will do see people dressed as confederate soldiers shooting cannons

    64. online BHARAT

Awesome dude.we would like to see bigger cannons in action.

    65. Nick Chertavian

Bring the baseball cannon to their next shoot.

    66. Changed Name

Love your content. Much love from Alabama!

    67. EarthKnight

Should bring the supersonic baseball cannon here next year.

    68. Martin Carter

If you ever do this again I'd love to see a twin ball and chain charge. They used to use this vicious ammunition again troops - precursor to the canister cartridge used in tanks against troops.

    69. Ryan

Wow yes that was really something so cool with the camera

    70. keyman1969

I would so love to go to this event!

    71. Christopher Kuhar

Friction primers fulminate mercury. Same stuff used in percussion caps for muskets.

    72. Melvin Splash

      people in TN are awesome.

    73. Random Dude

"assisted living dropped us off in a bus.. t-tell us what to do!" HAHAHA XD that dude's awesome

    74. Jacob Shelton

Load faster!!! I hear banjo music

You should join a group for a event, get dressed up and fight, there is going be a big one this year in Hampton VA, american revolution

    77. NMV 13

What blows my mind is knowing this is 100% real, yet the blast here 8:43 looks like a cheap tv show edit of an explosion...but it's real.

    78. moonlite x

      do barrel harmonics

    79. Mauricio Valadez

The cannon balls go so fast that when it’s in slow motion slow enough to see the cannon ball it looks like time is frozen it’s crazy

    80. bushmanpm

I am not a physicist in any way but was wondering, considering (or despite!) Newtons laws, if the wheels were chocked wouldn't that focus more energy into the projectile?

    81. Will Dupuis

If you really want dig in on Civil War cannon tech do a little research on the gun carriages wheels. They were built with a concave shape to better absorb the forces of firing. It's crazy to think of the innovations that came out of the 1860's without the benefit of our modern tech.

    82. Brown Boi

I don’t think there dress up as the union

    83. J.A.Ratt85

California keeps trying to take our guns away... Maybe I should buy a cannon instead? Another way you could show the shock wave would be to spray the area in front of the cannon with a ton of water from a mister sprayer right before the shot. The water in the air will compress and show the wave like the shock wave on a plane breaking the sound barrier over water or on a humid day.

    84. Constantin Shim

It's crazy how old those mechanisms are.

    85. Nachiket Bhat

It seems as if looking video of warfront

    86. Gavin Ames

That pixel difference effect on the slow-motion had to be one of the neatest effects I've ever seen!

    87. Paul Gerald

Do not forget the recoil . Yes these weapons did recoil that far back . You had to push her back and re sight the cannon . A full battery of artillery would not take long to reset and return fire . Thank you .

    88. Paul Gerald

This artillery gave off a lot of smoke, " close quarter combat " . Smokeless powder did not exist then . range may be 1000 yards . Thank you from a Canadian .

    89. Shaf

3:30 I thought that guy was about to get shot by a cannonball

    93. Roger Balderas

U look like a young shmee

    94. Aiden T Radley

      a huge shotgun

Wait what why aren’t the slowmo guys not in this like what

    96. Adrian M

I'd love to see the effects of some of these guns (or even modern ones) VS a big ol' tree

    97. Apache APACHE

You are an amazing Young man who brings is some wonderful content. Thank you for always going out your way for us followers on SEprom.

    98. I'm Me

What I find very interesting is that the flash, smoke, and projectile are long gone from the gun before the carriage starts to move backward. I would have thought that gun would be moving before everything had left the barrel.

    99. r4y2

"What are you watching?" "Nothin, just people having fun with canons"

    100. Simon Walker

      I love this video!
