    2. marines0001

      propeller blade ?

    3. Solo K

The thumbnail looks like it's straight out came from a video game.

    4. Darkwear GT

I am pretty sure a gearbox failure is worse

    5. Joel Berry

Im 11 and I already know that it a helicopter auto rotates.

    6. Forest McFarlane

Does anyone think that Kobe‘s pilot should’ve known that

    7. Jeremy Heck

Roughly 2 years In the sky...amazing

    8. Anatoly Kruglov

      Where was this filmed???

    9. Joseph Park

You look like that Mike guy from Airwolf season 4

    10. Wesley296

      Kobe :(

    11. vandude334

apparently Kobe's pilot didint get the message

    12. william levison

I am amazingly surprised that this was not clickbait. I thought it was going to be like VR.

    13. Kevin Hermans

Dr neil tyson is literally one of my favorite humans, he sent me a picture he autographed and a small letter. Probably does it all the time I just appreciated it.

    14. Michael Howe

You don’t think they have a fail safe on a helicopter it works just like them things you find in Maple tree seeds When they fall from the tree they spin like a helicopter slowing them down

    15. Zuatio

7:08 I got your snap now hahaha. Am I the only one that noticed it?

    16. The Other Side

      *I never knew this.*

    17. superfluous

Roses are red Violets are violet Neil degrasse tyson should sometimes stay quiet

    18. Stan

The last thing I wanna see while in a helicopter, is the remains of a fallen plane. 😨

    19. Ashley Porter

60000 flight hours! Wow doing the mathematics it equates to over 6 whole years constantly in the air! If anything it is reassuring to anyone like myself who loves to fly in planes but are scared of helicopters. Another great video Dustin 👍 ✈ 🚁

    20. Tony Martinez

WITH THE NEW VERTICAL TAKE OFF STUFF. HELICOPTER MAY BE EXTINCT SOON . WHO NEEDS A CHOPPER WHEREAS YOU CAN DO THE SAME THING WITH OTHER AIRCRAFTS. BIGGER AND MORE CAPACITY AND THEY CAN ALSO AND HOVER ABOVE ANYWHERE . THEY CAN LAND ON JUNGLES AND WOODS TOO . VERTICAL TAKE OFF AND LANDING, REMEMBER . eVEN FOR PERSONAL USE. IT WOULD NICE TO HAVE A VERICAL TAKE OFF AND LAND MACHINES . INSTEAD OF A HUFE SCARY BLADE CIRCLING AROUND YOUR HEAD . SO PRIMITIVE .

    21. Tony Martinez

WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE THE BLADES SMALLER BUT STILL HAS THE SAME POWER .

    22. David Manning

I like the fact I knew something NDT didn't

    23. dillsauce 99

      Was that the comox glacier???

    24. Hebrew Hooligan

That was nothing like the auto rotations at Fort Rucker AL or at the beginning did you fall super fast and just not put it in?

    25. Eduardas Paciūnas

      16 000 ÷ 24 = 666,666666

    26. Fmman g

Anyone else see the snap code ??

    27. Merle Ready

Fun fact, 16,000 hrs is 666 days.

    28. jos ackerman

yes they can autorotate, but they have to be above dead mans curve to have enough time to do it....below it you wont have enough time....like fire fighting choppers operate below that hight

    29. The Nightmare Before you

No it will still spin well ur going to find that out in a sec anyways.

    30. Matthieu D'astous

Falling like a disamara di acero.

    31. IRMacGuyver

All helicopters are falling some just don't realize it yet.

    32. Joseph Marin-Suarez

What if you dropped a camera from space

    33. Curtis Rempe

when the screen glitch goes on his snap chat pops up

    34. kraigson

Want to get even smarter? DON'T walk under glaciers like that, or ON them. As a Boy Scout, I was on a hike when we encountered a similar glacier. We all enjoyed exploring the caves under it, myself included. After exploring under it, I was up top, walking towards an edge when a 3' thick, 12' long section, about 8' wide fell directly on a place I had just walked under. Had I been only 4 minutes slower, I'd have been crushed by that piece of ice and snow.

    35. B W

kobes pilot should of watched this.......

    36. menteria

Three days later he nearly dies from hypoxia

    37. menteria

    39. bleegh boy

Hey Destin, I’m an undergrad at UC Santa Cruz studying to be an Electrical Engineer. My Calculus Physics course is about to move into drag force/aerodynamics and it would be an honor to meet you on Zoom and talk about physics so I can get a better understanding on the topic. I have been watching your videos all throughout highschool and it would mean the world to speak with you in person and learn from you. If you have the time and are willing to meet I would be honored. Sincerely, Jorge Cortez

      1. March

should probably comment on a more recent vid

    40. NOiDGaming

Can't believe Neil did such a basic mistake when it takes a few minutes on the internet to become aware of autorotation ...

    41. Swirrll the Doggo

Fun fact, autorotation is a thing in gta 5 with helicopters. If your engine fails, you can still land.

    42. Paulo Fernandes

Thats why they call it rotating wing like gyrocopter, while the rotor have energy its all ok, im a commertial pilot, LSA pilot and gyrocopter pilot.

    43. Cody James

I always new that as a child. Neil is still a child. he drinks like an adult though. probably the truth behind Niels delusions. lol

    44. Patrick Weir

      Rip Kobe

    45. rarotonga926

Everybody: This is so cool! Me at 1:34 - 1:41: *W-was that the site of a plane crash?*

    46. MehtKan Sdk

If a plane loses an engine 1:38

    47. XB10001

Low altitude flying is a Robinson helicopter .... 😬

      1. XB10001

        *in

    48. secret channel

Be careful when you say feathering, feathering is maximum pitch used to stop the windmilling effect.

    49. Jared hayliegh E.mangiliman

Ummmmm... There's a crashed plane on the mountain....

    50. No Idea

And i hope he doesn’t pretend caring about climate change.....

    51. Lukeplays

If only Kobe’s pilot knew how to do this🙏🏽💔

    52. Nick Pepper

How awesome is it to have such a huge name respond to you?.. Thanks for showing the world that helicopters can be landed safely with autorotation.

    53. Zoriox

Epic gamers who play ArmA 3 and DCS already know all about autorotation and “spinning out” :D

    54. Liger King

Wats up with those crushed parts of planes on the mountain?

    55. Aviyaytor

Life on the line? Come on man! It’s an autorotation!

    56. The person who killed hitler is my role model

Kobe Bryant should’ve taken some notes😂

    57. David Nuttall

1:40 okay, that was not a good landing.

    58. Raimond Spadaro

Prof.Neil has shown himself to be a class act.

    59. Navroze Panthaky

But besides that, it was a very cool video. THANK YOU.

    60. Christopher Corbin

      Roll tide

    61. Austin V

I've always wondered this and now I finally know. Very neat stuff.

    62. Bert Bagley

Well falling can feel like flying until you hit the ground...

    63. EK Havoc

      Did somebody say kobe Bryant

    64. Jack Sew

      KOBE!!

    65. -LAZER-P996-

Why do pilots sounds so stupid and similar when they talk through that stupid mic

    66. MeMyself &i

When i served in the 101st Airborne, pilots spent a lot of time perfecting and practicing controlled landings in just this situation.

    67. Kyle Warns

Or just get yourself a helicopter with 2 engines 😉

    68. Flat FLSTF

The master & a half is so good he made me calm

    69. Edward Zhang

Well, i guess it would be more accurate if Niel said, FYI: An airplane whose engine fails is a glider. A helicopter whose Jesus nut fails is a brick

    70. Thomas LeMay

I have been in two different helicopters that lost power over a forest fire, not fun ! I decided helicopters and wildfires are not the best combination. Auto rotation is difficult in heavy smoke. This was before I learned to fly.

    71. Khaba Australia

      2yrs flying, WOW

    72. kolby 56

      I thought it was vr

    73. HockeyP

Many video games taught me how this works, I fly in some military sim type games and your engine gets shot out you have to do just this

    74. dvgayle1

      I'm thinking brick.

    75. Daniel Reynolds

this man has spent 670 days in a helecopter. almost two years straight

    76. John Jacob JinglehimerSchmidt

Both vehicles become rocks depending on their altitude and speed when the engines quit. I'd much rather be in a helicopter having lost and engine than a plane.

    77. Thomas Pownall

So tell em again how Kobe died?

    78. KIWI RYKER

Why called kiwi Crate ? So misleading , that not NZ KiwiCo is a Californian company, whose sole link to New Zealand seems to be that the founder and chief executive had a holiday here and liked it. Myers discovered the lack of Kiwiness of KiwiCo when its parcel arrived at her home in Melbourne, Australia, showing labelling from California, not her much-missed homeland. "Would love to know how KiwiCo came up with its name. It's so misleading. There seems to be no New Zealand roots within the company,"

    79. Ethan Koga

      Hey destin!

    80. Parker Phillips

Never understood autorotation until now. Very good explanation.

    81. scursion07

16,000 hours is the equivalent to him flying 8, hours a day, 7 days a week, for 5.5 years. Alrighty then.

    82. Chad Percival

1:30 why is there debris, is that a real crash

    83. Maddison Elise Kendyl

"Im exploring some place boone can get to" Cuts to next clip, OUCH i hurt myself some place noone can get to xD

    84. Toy GT86

I was 7yo and a huey pilot told me that he could safely landing his heli using this technique, im 28 now and I thought people knew this by now 😂😂

    85. Hollar For A Dollar

      Thank you

    86. Ricky Rice

      Autorotation

    87. Spectre 4913

      Autorotation.

    88. Nicholas Schnee

What type of plane was that

    89. coveybaby

Things I did not know, the list continues

    90. James Alexander

Destin, you need to do one on an Autogyro now :)

    91. John Bravo

Brad is a next-level pilot with a dream job...!

    92. Patrick

Just signed up for Kiwi crates!

    93. Patric J

I find it surprising that people still think a helicopter will drop like a brick if the engine stops. I know about the possibility of autorotation since several decades.

    94. jesterlead

Always loved doing autorotations in the AH-1F Cobra's....fun, scary, and a couple cigarettes to calm down a bit.

    95. M AZ

      Autos!

    96. Ashton Mahoney

Are we all gonna Ignore the crashed plane at 1:40

    97. thedarkknight

to bad Kobie didn't know this

    98. Angela Armstrong

      Hi

      1. Angela Armstrong

        Hi

    99. George Glover

Wow!!! Of all if what you've put out.., I'd bet this is the most...., WOW!

    100. Joshua Wolpert

I love that the first thing he showed you was another downed aircraft.... and then you pet his beard.....
